The French and Indian War was primarily caused by disputes between France and Britain over land claims and the fur trade in North America, particularly in the Ohio River Valley. As both countries sought to expand their territories and influence, tensions grew, leading to military conflict. The war ultimately resulted in British dominance in North America after the 1763 Treaty of Paris.
